The Baked Potato Jazz Club prevails solely because of the passion for music from rock to jazz. The Passion of the Potato. The best-kept secret until now.

The documentary will take a deep dive into the story and the musicians of The Baked Potato, also known as “the Spud,” which was born out of a passion for music. When Don Randi (part of the legendary Wrecking Crew) envisioned his dream venue, he thought of it as a place to bring artists together to celebrate music. From rock to jazz, it was “the place” for musicians. And it still is.

Nowadays, the Spud has gathered a consistent fan base not only across Los Angeles but worldwide from Europe to Asia, because It represents the universality of music. The music, at the Spud, is like no other.

The club has hosted musicians that have played and collaborated with artists like Megadeth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elvis, Beach Boys, Van Halen, Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, Prince, Barbara Streisand, among many others.

Only the greatest musicians get to play here. It is, after all, the venue of legends.

The Baked Potato Jazz Club is where the greatest musicians call home.

He is also one of LA’s most successful art photographers, having had his work printed in the New York Arts Magazine, Artchronika, Vice UK, and Riverside Press Books.

Debra M. Simon
Co-Director, Producer

Debra is a documentary producer who has worked on documentaries, like The 4-part series, Hacking Your Mind, PBS - Guys N' Divas: Battle of the High School Musicals, Lionsgate/Showtime - Beyond the Mat, Imagine Ent/Universal, - As well as Lost Dinosaurs of Egypt I & II, A&E and the 2-part series, Trial - the Price of Passion. She’s also produced features like Cries of Silence, Mothers & Daughters, The Chase, Love, Cheat and Steal: A Seduction in Travis County, to name a few.

Debra Simon has received 3 Telly Awards, for ‘Art and Culture in film/video and marketing’; 2 Webby Awards, for ‘web design’; Kodak's Photographic Medallion of Excellence; Three Gold Key Awards, and the WorldFest Platinum award for her screenplay ‘Season of the Witch’.

Madison Berrones
Co-Producer

Madison has a diverse background in creative marketing and branding. She started her career as a junior agent at the Gage Group. During her time here, she worked closely with critically acclaimed actors such as Emmy and Academy Award-winning actress Shirley Knight, Academy Award-nominated June Squibb, Conchata Ferrel, George Wendt, Brad Greenquist, and Charles Durning.

In addition, she worked for her very own YouTube channel called MadicalSays, which went on to gather more than 250,000 collective views.

Joby Joy
Associate Producer, Editor

Joby is a producer/editor for NFL GameDay Morning: Immaculate Remembrance. A show for which he won the Emmy Award (production). In addition, he produces the weekly show NFL Replay Game of the Week.
